Do recruiting sites do more harm than good for their respective programs?

Never in the history of media as a single "WOOF!!! WOOF!!! WOOF!!!" cause so much controversy but that was the case last night on twitter. When Washington Huskies head coach Steve Sarkisian tweeted that tweet that typically means he just signed a new recruit. Per NCAA rules Sarkisian isn't allowed to say who. There had been rumors for a few weeks now that three-star(was a four-star last week) cornerback Brandon Beaver from Dominguez high school from Compton, California was going to commit to the Huskies soon. So without even talking to him first Crazy Ruth Robbins of Realdawg reported that Beaver was a Husky. After Dave "Softy" Mahler of KJR had retweeted that she quickly backed off that report which started a giant twitter war. Soon after Dawgman.com had reported Beaver was also coming to the Huskies. Beaver who is only 18 years old about to embark on his biggest decision of his life had his moment taken away from him. Now Beaver is going on his trip to Oklahoma Sooners and the Arizona Wildcats. The Huskies could lose out on Beaver when it is all said and done considering 20 years ago this wouldn't have been a problem Beaver would be a Husky now he might be just another cautionary tale of yet another recruit lost at the hands of crazy Ruth Robbins. So you have to wonder do these recruiting sites do more harm for their school they represent than good?

When crazy Ruth(you can see she has killed Huskies recruiting in the past with this picture on James Montgomery's page) tweeted that Softy Mahler retweeted that. A day after blasting me saying he would only quote a credible source he had no problem quoting crazy Ruth despite her being known for jumping the gun. Immediately after crazy Ruth had said she hadn't spoke to Beaver. Then Softy was upset(rightfully so as he looks dumb by default) with Crazy Ruth which then proceeded to be the most entertaining 15 minutes of twitter war I've seen. In this case Softy was 100% correct in questioning crazy Ruth who in returned pissed off the "Husky commit" Brandon Beaver. He actually tweeted about Ruth saying "Ruth is something else...SMH...sad to say". Beaver wanted to let his family and friends know first hand. He wanted to enjoy this special moment of his life that he'll forever remember instead it was all ruined by crazy Ruth who is only in the business to help herself and herself only. She can care less about the Huskies program and the damage she has constantly done to this football program. She isn't the only guilty one in this mess as her rival recruiting site Dawgman.com also reported this. Then Softy Mahler had Chris Fetters on as a guest today and Fetters unintentionally took heat off crazy Ruth and put it on his site instead.

Today on Softy Mahler's show Dawgman writer Chris Fetters was on there. Fetters did more damage than good for his site today. The most telling quote was him saying "I'm only in this business to put Dick's burgers in my stomach and shoes on my feet" translation I'm in this for me and me only screw the program. Dawgman in the past has sat on their hands on key information such as Tyrone Willingham knowing that had they came out to say he needs to go good chance he would have been let go heading into 2008. Instead they protected him and the Huskies went 0-12 in the process. Fetters and crazy Ruth are showing that these recruiting sites don't give a shit about the Huskies, the kids involved or the people they hurt. They are in this business about themselves and themselves only. Kim Grinolds the site owner did his best politician act on Mahler's facebook page today trying to clean up the big steaming pile of crap that Fetters had put on his fanbase as subscribers are being lost by the minute. That is the problem when you have two sites targeting the same material to the same fanbase and those two absolutely hate each other. In the end once again the program and the fans are the ones who are hurt the most. Their level of selfishness may have cost the Huskies a talented cornerback which this program has been starving for since the 2000 Rose Bowl championship team.

In conclusion, this town isn't big enough for two recruiting sites. One has to go and while Dawgman looks bad today that option is clearly Crazy Ruth. Husky booster Bill Fleenor has stated Steve Sarkisian and Huskies athletic director Scott Woodward aren't happy with crazy Ruth and her credentials might be finally revoked which is a move that has been long overdue. At some point these guys need to have a soul and let these kids celebrate the moment. Unless these kids personally say to them they are going to their school they should remain quiet. Like Mahler has stated and I believe him he has sat on key information for the better of the school.  Fetters and crazy Ruth showed their true colors today and last night. They showed they care about their own personal gain than the team they supposedly cheer for on Saturday's. Hopefully Beaver still comes here after the damage Crazy Ruth did today. Sarkisian will do his best to separate himself from these clowns and hopefully Beaver realizes those groups don't represent the Husky fanbase at all.

Washington Huskies backup quarterback redshirt freshman Nick Montana has officially transfered today. This is something that I had reported a few weeks back. While at the time some believed my reporting skills there was a few doubters. I didn't just randomly post that as I don't do that. Instead from a mutual friend that he regularly talks to every single day told me I decided to run with this. KJR's Dave "Softy" Mahler had told me at the time he spoke to Montana and that I was wrong. Yet here we are today with Montana transfering. Instead of giving me credit like Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times rightfully did Mahler instead took this as a chance to rag on me even more so. In this following post I'll talk about Montana transfering and the positive/negative reaction I've received from Mahlers childish antics towards myself.

When Nick Montana the son of Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana came to Washington there was high expectations for the four star recruit that he would take over when Jake Locker graduated. Instead Montana lost out to sophomore quarterback Keith Price and never really played much this year. When Montana finally had a chance to play he didn't play well at all. In his lone start in a 38-21 loss to Oregon State he was pulled for the injured Keith Price failing to throw for even 100 yards. For his Huskies career Montana completed 24-42(57.1%) of his passes for 226 yards(5.4 YPA) with three touchdowns to two interceptions. Montana showed in that Oregon State game that he wasn't ready for major college football. With Sarkisian bringing in two highly rated quarterbacks and Price having two more years left this was a move that makes sense for Montana.

Keith Price the quarterback that nobody gave a chance to beat out Montana broke a lot of passing records as only a sophomore quarterback. While the Huskies marketing team was busy selling Nick Montana's #5 jersey Price simply showed he was the better quarterback. Price began his career with six straight games of passing for at least three touchdown passes in a game. For the year Price completed 242-362(66.9%) of his passes for 3,063 yards(8.5 YPA) with 33 touchdowns to 11 interceptions with three rushing touchdowns. Price set a single season school record for QB rating, completion percentage and touchdowns in a season. The school record is 53 passing touchdowns by Locker and Price for his career already has 35 touchdowns so Montana was looking at best starting only his senior year.  With Sarkisian bringing in two quarterbacks and with Derrick Brown also a highly touted quarterback waiting in the wings could have beaten out Montana as well. Most people saw with the play of Keith Price that Montana was going to indeed transfer. Montana transfering isn't a shock to most. Just the timing of Montana's transfer after I had been told I was wrong just two weeks ago is the story. Had Montana transfered a year from now or even before I had reported it  people could claim they had known all along. After I had reported it though I was met with some negative feedback in return mostly by one individual.

I complained that I had to chase down a rumor from a blog nobody had ever heard of. I cant waste my time chasing down stories based off rumors that appear on fan blogs. Theres just too many of them and if I did that I wouldnt even have time to breathe. But people kept bugging me about it, so I called Nick. He denied it then. Now, today, a credible news source is reporting he's gone. That is worth responding to. If anyone with a fan blog wants to break stories and be taken seriously, then go get a job with an established media organiziation, or build a history that one day people can take seriously. Its that simple."

Dave "Softy" Mahler is often known for his childish antics and homerism for the Huskies.  He has called out author Derrick Johnson in the past too discrediting him. So I'm not surprised he referred to my blog as a blog that nobody has heard of despite the fact that I have three-quarters of a century thousand in views. For him to say I was wrong then to explode on me like this was very unprofessional especially when qualified newspaper writers such as Bob Condotta had no problem giving me my much deserve credit on my reporting skills.

In conclusion, I didn't make up this story on Montana I had actual key information reporting to me about Montana which was proven right two weeks later. I also had key information reporting to me that Mike Leach was in Pullman two days before it was announced he was head coach. After taking backlash from people for two straight days he was named head football coach for the Cougars. Bottom line I'm not in this blogging game for personal joy but more so cause I love sports. Just when the chance I get something right(Don't worry I'll admit when I'm wrong too) just give me some credit. For the Huskies program losing Montana is no big loss as they are loaded at the quarterback position. You won't be seeing Joe Montana in the stands anymore which is perhaps the only loss in this whole thing. Anyways I wish Nick Montana luck and will continue listening to KJR believe it or not. At the end of the day we are all rooting for the same teams even if we happen to disagree.

Mariners make bold move; Trade Pineda to Yankees for Montero

The Seattle Mariners finally made a move to help their weak offense and it was a big move indeed. No the Mariners didn't sign Prince Fielder instead Jack Zduriencik traded all-star pitcher Michael Pineda and the organizations #5 prospect pitcher Jose Campos to the New York Yankees for the #3 prospect in all of baseball catcher/DH Jesus Montero and their organizations #7 prospect pitcher Hector Noesi.  This was the type of risky move that several people including myself begged Zduriencik to pull off. Well Jack Z did just that trading an organizational strength(pitching) for a weakness(hitting). The Mariners traded away a 23 year old pitcher who has already made the all-star team for a guy with limited at bats in the major leagues plus gave up one of their top pitching prospects in return. Still this is the type of bold move that championship teams make and Jack Z has just shoved his chips into the center of the poker table for the first time in his career.

The Mariners acquired Jesus Montero and  Hector Noesi from the Yankees. What the Mariners have in Montero is a 22 year old catcher who will most likely be a DH. In 2010 he was regarded as the fourth best prospect in baseball and in 2011 he was rated as the third best. Montero this year in a September call up with the Yankees in 69 plate appearances hit .328/.408/.590 while hitting four home runs and driving in 12 runs as he also scored nine runs. In the minor leagues in 2,038 plate appearances Montero hit .308/.366/.501 with 76 home runs, 318 RBI's, and 262 runs scored. He also had 118 doubles. The guy can flat out mash the ball and brings a much needed power right handed bat to the Mariners. He isn't just a power hitter as you can see he is a good hitter who is compared to Miguel Caberra. The Mariners also acquired the 25 year old pitcher Hector Noesi who last year with the New York Yankees in 30 games including two starts went 2-2 with a 4.47 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 45 strikeouts in 56.1 innings. In his minor league career Noesi has appeared in 84 games with 64 starts went 25-15 with a 3.17 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 365 strikeouts in 377.2 innings. He will be competing for a spot in the Mariners rotation especially with the departure of Pineda.

The Mariners are taking a big chance by trading away 23 year old Michael Pineda and Jose Campos. The Mariners are trading away Pineda a pitcher who finished fifth in the rookie of the year voting and made the all-star team last year. He was also the 16th best prospect heading into the 2011 season. Last season Pineda in 28 starts went 9-10 with a 3.74 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 173 strikeouts in 171 innings pitched. In his minor league career Pineda in 86 games, 71 of which he started he went 31-14 with a 2.49 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 396 strikeouts in 404.1 innings. Prior to this season his career high for innings pitched in a season was 139.1 innings as he was injury prone. Still the Yankees acquired an ace of the future who is already a proven Major League all-star plus acquired another pitcher who most scouts are high on. is pitcher Jose Campos who is only 19 years old. Campos in 40 appearances, 30 of which he started has a 14-10 record with a 3.26 ERA, 1.17 WHP and 167 strikeouts in 171.1 innings pitched. The Mariners gave up a lot for Montero a player which they almost acquired two years ago.

Two years ago when the Mariners fell out hopelessly out of contention Zduriencik had a big trade chip in Cliff Lee. Instead of dealing Lee to the Yankees he chose to deal him to the Texas Rangers for Justin Smoak. So far the return on Smoak hasn't been what fans had hoped for. Smoak who in 2010 was 13th best prospect is now 25 years old. So far in Seattle in 611 plate appearances Smoak has hit .235/.316/.398 with only 20 home runs and 69 RBI's. Had the Mariners simply acquired Montero then they wouldn't have had to deal Pineda plus Campos now. Smoak to date has been a bust for the Mariners but if he can be that player he was in the Minor leagues where he hit .283/.401/.458 with 24 HR's and 93 RBI's in 773 plate appearances the Mariners would take that. The facts are Smoak hasn't even had 2,000 plate appearances in his professional career so the book is still out on him. Either way this trade today and Smoak's developement will be Jack Z's legacy in Seattle.

In conclusion, I love the fact that Jack Z is taking a risk here. This isn't your normal Jack Z trade where is trading a pile of garbage for a less than pile of garbage. This is a big time move that can make Zduriencik a legend in Seattle or a failure in Seattle. Prior to this trade Jack Z was like a game manager QB a guy who made no real mistakes but also made no significant big plays. This trade he is putting himself out there. Fans such as myself have been screaming all offseason to make a big move, to acquire a big bat. Now Zduriencik makes this move and a lot of those same fans are now bashing him as well as his usual supporters. The great thing about sports is nobody knows what any of these four players and Justin Smoak will turn out to be. Heading into the 2008 season the Texas Rangers who had taken last place basically every year since 2000 made a bold move. They traded their top pitching prospect and future all-star Edison Volquez for a guy who waas a former drug addict and had played just one season in the Major leagues.That player was Josh Hamilton and the Rangers have been to two straight World Series. Risks need to be made in sports sometimes. Without risk there is no reward. This trade could turn out to be legendary for the Mariners or this trade like many in the past will come back to haunt us. I'm just glad that Zduriencik finally had the balls to make a big time move like this. I'm also confident when the dust settles the Mariners not the Yankees will win this trade.

Sounders select defender Andrew Duran and forward Babayele Sodade.

The 2012 MLS SuperDraft took place earlier today in Kansas City. Quite a few young stars like Jason Banton and Kohei Yamanda weren't selected, so they'll have to wait until the Supplemental Draft next Tuesday to find out where they're headed. It would also make it a little difficult for them to earn a spot on their team. The two players that were selected earlier by the Seattle Sounders won't have to wait for Tuesday. The Sounders selected Creighton University defender Andrew Duran at #15 overall and University of Alabama-Birmingham forward Babayele Sodade at #34 overall. With the team stacked up with 29 players on the roster now, both Duran and Sodade will have their work cut out for them at training camp.

Duran's college career didn't start out well at all for him. In 2007, he was named among the Top 100 Freshman to watch by College Soccer News. However, he only made nine appearances as a freshman after missing most of the season due to mononucleosis. In his sophomore season in 2008, he made seven appearances because suffering a season ending ACL injury in a match against the University of Denver. In 2009, after missing the season opener, Duran came off the bench in his first two matches of the season before making his first start of the season against the Washington Huskies. Overall, he made 14 appearances in 2009 including seven starts. In 2010, Duran got off to a good start in his senior year. He scored his first goal of his collegiate career on the road against UC Santa Barbra. The Bluejays posted four shutouts in their first four matches of the season, however he redshirted the rest of the season after tearing a meniscus in his knee on September 17, 2010 against SMU. In his redshirt-senior season in 2011, Duran made 24 appearances and helped lead Creighton to an NCAA record 0.20 goals against average, 19 shutouts. The Bluejays conceded five goals all season. However, they failed to win the College Cup after being knocked out in the Semifinals on PK's against UNC Charlotte.

It was just about an injury prone collegiate career at Creighton for Andrew Duran, but he stepped up and became a leader to Creighton's back line in 2011.

Duran actually spent a week here in Seattle, training with the Sounders and also caught a game at CenturyLink Field. In that game, Jeff Parke scored from a corner kick in stoppage time against Sporting Kansas City to give the Sounders a 1-0 win. That goal convinced Duran that he wanted to be a Sounder.

In the second round, the Sounders selected Babayele Sodade from UAB. Sodade improved his production in each of his four seasons with the Blazers. After failing to score in his freshman year, Sodade scored seven goals in 18 games as a sophomore, nine goals in 18 games as a junior and led the team with 13 goals in 21 games as a senior. With Nate Jaqua finally gone after his shit performance in both 2010 and 2011, and O'Brian White still recovering from two blood clot surgeries he had last season, Sodade gives the Sounders depth at the forward position. I'm a little surprised that he wasn't taken in the first round. I know somebody picked him to be drafted by the Sounders, but in the first round though.

Overall, I think the draft went pretty well for the Sounders, but again there's also a supplemental draft on tuesday which is four rounds and the roster for the Sounders currently sits at 29 and all MLS clubs can have a maximum of 30 players on their roster. So the fact that four more players will join camp and the fact MLS season is upon us, we'll have about seven weeks to find out who will make this team and who will have to look for a new club.

Sounders sign Danish midfielder Christian Sivebaek

The Sounders have made yet another move this offseason. Danish midfielder Christian Sivebaek joins the Men in Rave Green after five seasons with FC Midtjylland. With the 23-year old joining the club, the roster as it stands currently sits at 27 players. Remember though, the Sounders are still in talks with Cordell Cato, which would make 28. Now you have two more spots available on your roster. The MLS SuperDraft takes place tomorrow, so the question is do you consider drafting another midfielder, or maybe pick up a forward because the Sounders have enough depth in the midfield and there's very little depth in the forward position.

Sivebaek is the son of former Danish international defender John Sivebaek who played for Manchester United and was part of Denmark's international squad that won the European Championship in 1992. Sivebaek of course began his career in the youth ranks of FC Midtjylland in 2006 at the age of 16 and signed a professional contract two years later. He has made 80 league appearances for Midtjylland and scored 6 times for the club. He's also represented Denmark at the Youth Level, however he has yet to make a senior appearance.


Thoughts on this move:

Once again, I'll give the Sounders front office a thumbs up. He's a good attack minded player that will fit in with this team. This is a much different team compared to last years. One of the reasons of course is because our back line is stronger with outside backs Marc Burch and Adam Johansson joining the Sounders back in December. Everything's just about in place for the Sounders and I'm looking forward to a new season.

Huskies end their road woes with 57-53 win over the Utes

The Washington Huskies(9-6,3-1) finally ended their road woes with a low scoring sluggish 57-53 victory on the road at the Utah Utes(4-11,1-2). This wasn't a normal victory for the Huskies as this game was pretty ugly as the Huskies failed to score 30 points in either half. Instead led by the defensive effort of redshirt freshman Desmond Simmons off the bench and finally the emergence of Terrence Ross the Huskies pulled this victory out. Huskies head coach Lorenzo Romar also had a new starting lineup as well after the lackluster performance against the Colorado Buffaloes putting in C.J. Wilcox for lone senior Darnell Gant. Wilcox playing his first game in his home state struggled but the Huskies won anyways as a win is a win.

For the Huskies this win was huge to get that road monkey off their back as they play their next four games at home including three in conference. Despite having just one player(Ross) score in double figures the Huskies found a way to win. Now this win was against a team who is only 4-11 but did just defeat the Washington State Cougars. The Huskies needed a road win for their mental approach going forward in Pac-12 play seeing how they end their conference season with three straight road games.

In the first half both teams struggled as the Huskies led 29-27 at halftime. The Huskies shot poorly making only 10-31(32.3%) of their field goals and only 3-10(30.0%) from three pointers. Wilcox in his homecoming got the start and struggled making only one of nine shots while Ross shot one for five and Wroten was one for four. The leading scorers for the Huskies were Aziz N'Diaye and Darnell Gant who scored five points. Only Desmond Simmons and Gant made two field goals in the first half. The Huskies did lead at halftime and in the second half Ross would start to take the game over.

The Huskies would outscore the Utes 28-26 in the second half to hang onto a 57-53 lead. After leading at one point 50-43 the lead was cut to 52-47 and as the shot clock was winding down it was kicked out to Ross who had a falling away three pointer to put what many thought was the dagger on the Utes giving the Huskies a 55-47 lead. The Huskies though would miss six straight free throws and after a three pointer by the Utes cut the lead to 55-53 it was once again down to Ross who was fouled. Ross hit both free throws to clinch the win for the Huskies.

 Ross led the Huskies with 14 points on four for nine shooting including three for five from three pointers but just three for six on free throws. Ross also have five rebounds, three assists, a steal and two blocks. The next leading scorer for the Huskies was Aziz N'Diaye who scored nine points on three for five shooting and made three of four free throws. N'Diaye also grabbed six rebounds. Tonly Wroten scored just eight points and failed to dish out an assist as he shot three for six from the field. Abdul Gaddy scored seven points on three for six shooting including a three pointer while dishing out six assists. Desmond Simmons scored six points on three for six shooting but pulled down a game high 10 rebounds off the bench. C.J. Wilcox struggled in his return home scoring just five points on 2-13 shooting including one for five from three point range. Darnell Gant who came off the bench first time all season scored five points on two for three shooting including a three pointer. This was a big win for the Huskies winning on the road like they did.

All in all, the Huskies despite their struggles find themselves 3-1 in conference play and tied for second place. I'm sure Romar would love to be 4-0 and seeing his team playing better but he would accept this. The Huskies with four straight home games and three of which are conference opponents have a chance to make a run. This year with the conference being down winning the conference regular season title is as important as ever. The Huskies have a chance to clean up their flaws they can still make this a special season afterall. Hopefully like in the past this team will improve as the season grows older.

Observations:

- You often hear me say this team has too much talent to be playing the way they are playing. Well I'm referring to Terrence Ross and Tony Wroten two guys who I feel will have long NBA careers and be NBA lottery selections someday(hopefully next year). I've talked plenty about Wroten and he didn't play a good game at all today. Instead I'll focus on Terrence Ross who was big time for the Huskies. After starting off one for five shooting in the second half he was three for four shooting making some incredible three pointers.

Down the stretch he made a back breaking three pointer then swished two free throws even though at the time he was only one for four at the line. Ross is the only guy on the team who can be unguardable at time. He can shoot well, he can use his athletic ability to drive to the hole and he has proven he can make impossible shots. Ross for the season is averaging 14.3 points and 6.1 rebounds. He is shooting 45.3% from the field and making 1.7 three pointers a game. Those are solid numbers in fact those numbers could land Ross on the first team all pac-12 team. Yet with Ross you always feel like you want more. Ross is too talented to only average 14 points in this offense and too athletic to only average six rebounds. Ross should be averaging anywhere from 18-22 points and 8-10 rebounds a game. Ross and Wroten will determine where the Huskies season goes from here as they are the two most talented guys on the team if not the conference.

-  Romar got the split that was needed after the embarassing loss to the Buffaloes on Thursday. For his career Romar is now 137-27 at home which shows the Huskies are world beaters at home. However, they are only 42-60 on the road and 26-20 on neutral court. So the Huskies are 68-80 away from home in the Romar years which shouldn't surprise anyone who follows this program closely.

Despite barely beating a bad team this was a big win because of those numbers I just gave. So in a typical 18 game Pac-12 schedule those numbers suggest Romar would go 8-1 at home while going 4-5 away which puts the Huskies at 12-6 for conference record which sounds about right. Romar has a young team and is finally starting to trust his youngsters. He already inserted Wroten into the starting lineup and has recently been playing freshman Simmons more minutes than his only senior on scholarship in Darnell Gant. This has been a trying season to date for Romar but his teams do get better as the season progresses.

In conclusion, the saying in the Pac-10 and now Pac-12 is win your home games and split your road games which would give you a 14-4 record(like the 2005 team did). That is exactly what the Huskies have done so far after sweeping the Beavers they split on the rocky mountain road trip. Now they return home hoping to go 6-1 in conference play and win four games in a row overall. They will take on Seattle U who they have dominated since renewing that "rivalry". After the South Dakota State disaster the Huskies can't afford to take anyone lightly especially their cross city rival. This was a good win for the Huskies to finally gain some confidence that they can win on the road should be interesting what they do with that confidence. Two years ago the Huskies started off losing their first seven games away from home then won nine straight games away from home after that. All it takes is one win sometimes to start a streak. Hopefully for the Huskies sake this Utah win was just that for them.

Huskies remain winless on the road; Buffaloes win in blowout 87-69

The Washington Huskies(8-6,2-1) failed yet another road test losing to the Colorado Buffaloes(10-4,2-0) in Boulder, Colorado 87-69. In a game which the Huskies led by a score of 14-5 the Buffaloes ended the half outscoring the Huskies 35-16. The Huskies once again on the road failed to make their shots, failed to make defensive stops and just seemed liked they didn't even want to be there.

With just three Huskies scoring in double figures while allowing 49% shooting from the Buffaloes the Huskies were once again no match on the road as they now fall to 0-5 on the season away from home. This young talented squad appears to be suffering a similar fate as the 2006-07 team which had young freshman Spencer Hawes and Quincy Pondexter along with sophomore Jon Brockman all of which are playing in the NBA currently. Lorenzo Romar must figure out a way to maximize the talent of a team that features two lottery picks and another player who could be playing in the NBA as well.

In the Huskies first trip to Boulder since 1996 when freshman superstar Tony Wroten was only three years the Huskies got off to a terrific start leading 14-5. That is when everything started to fall apart as the Buffaloes started to outhustle the Huskies on both ends of the floor and the Huskies simply stop making their shots. Then Romar put in freshman Martin Bruenig is when the Buffaloes went on a run. While Bruenig's stint was short it left an impact as he missed a dunk and two layups while also giving up two three pointers and a few offensive rebounds. Before you knew it the Buffaloes had ended the half on a 35-16 run leading the Huskies 40-30 at halftime.

The Buffaloes shot 16-38(.421) from the field while draining three for six three pointers. They were led by Carlon Brown who scored 13 points on 5-10 shooting including two three pointers. Andre Roberson added six points on three for three shooting with eight rebounds and Sabatino Chen scored six points on three for six shooting as well. For the Huskies they shot miserable shooting 13-41(.317) from the field while making just 2-10 three pointers. They were led by C.J. Wilcox who scored nine points on 4-10 shooting but just one for seven on three pointers. Terrence Ross added seven points on three for seven shooting including a three pointer and seven rebounds. Tony Wroten scored six points on three for seven shooting but missed both free throws while adding three steals. The Huskies had an uphill mountain to climb in the second half.

The Huskies were outscored 47-39 in the second half to ultimately lose 87-69 in a game that wasn't even that close. The Buffaloes shot 27-55(49.1%) from the field making 8-14(57.1%) of their three pointers and 25-28(89.3%) from their free throws. The Buffaloes had five guys in scoring figures and another score eight points. They were led by Brown who scored 18 points on 7-11 shooting including a perfect three for three on three pointers. For the Huskies they shot miserable making only 27-72(37.5%) of their field goals, 4-20(20.0%) of their three pointers and 11-16(68.8%) of their free throws. They were led by Wroten who scored 21 points on 9-16 shooting, six rebounds, three assists and seven steals. He also turned the ball over five times and shot just three for eight on free throws. Wilcox scored 19 points off the bench on 6-16 shooting including three for nine on three pointers but was a perfect four for four on free throws. The last Husky to score in double figures was Terrence Ross who scored 13 points on 6-15 shooting with a three pointer while adding 10 rebounds. The Huskies had too many other no shows as they had three other starters combine score eight points. Desmond Simmons had a nice game scoring six points on three for seven shooting with five rebounds as he continues to be the Huskies only productive big man.

All in all, this was another long list of bad losses for this years Huskies team. This was your standard Romar loss which featured poor substitutions, poor big man play, too many turnovers and nothing that resembles a half court offense. What doesn't resemble a Romar team is the piss poor defensive effort which is becoming a bad trend for this particular team in losses. The Huskies also need some of their upperclassman to step up and take control. Pretty hard to be a leader when you aren't playing well. This was the second straight game Darnell Gant was a complete non factor while Abdul Gaddy pulled a no show this game as well. The Huskies inside play was terrible on both ends of the court while Wroten is being asked to do too much. This Huskies team is at a crossroads right now which is they can simply play it out and go to the CBI despite three guys who appear to be NBA talent or they can focus and try to make something out of this season that appears headed down the drains very quickly.
