I can't believe I've been running my blog for two years now. It has been a wild ride for my blog over those years where in the beginning I had a separate facebook account for a few months which was deleted by facebook. In that short time I was able to have interviewed several Huskies greats when the current Huskies were taking on the Nebraska Cornhuskers and I also had a separate interview with Huskies and Oakland Raiders great Lincoln Kennedy as we talked on the phone for over 40 minutes. I remember how that was such a thrill talking to guys that I grew up watching and just how excited my dad was for me. That was exciting times for my blog's growth as I started my blog in the NBA offseason. That offseason was crazy of course because that is when Lebron James pulled off the decision and just two years later it resulted in an NBA championship for the Miami Heat. Still my blog was having trouble getting page views until November of 2010.
My blog finally hit it big in November and hasn't looked back since! I've had over 3,000 page views every month since March of 2011 and over 5,000 since June of 2011. This past two years has been great to me and my blog. My seattle sports blog group and fan page have been getting great traffic lately. In October of 2011 I began writing for the Northwest Sports Beat which has been a fun experience.
In the first two years I will have wrote more than I will this upcoming year. With my job and coaching in the winter time I'll be working up to 60 hours a week. My blog has been a great ride and it has been a wonderful two years. I just like to quickly thank everyone who has ever written for me, thank everyone who has ever read my work and I look forward to future readers of my blog! This was a great personal weekend for me spending time with my family down in Long Beach, Washington with the team I'm currently coaching plus kids I coached this past year on a different team were there, along with my old high school. I couldn't ask for much more in life and this blog has allowed me to meet several great people along the way. Cheers everyone!

Reflections on my blog turning one years old today
By Kshell
On this date last year the NBA free agency period was getting hot. This was back when I was waking up at 8 in the morning vs now when I go to bed at 8 in the morning. After talking on the phone with my friend I decided to create the blog. My very first post was nothing special and in fact it was only a paragraph about how the Miami Heat signed Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. I also created a facebook account called "Seattle Sportsblog" where I would friend those who would talk quite a bit on other sports figures pages. I built up quite a following on my facebook account but the problem was I couldn't get people to come over to my blog. In fact the few couple of months were rough far as viewership on my blog. In my first four months I only had 5,758 page views which isn't very much. What also didn't help was my friend who decided to partner up with me didn't want to write for my blog anymore. Then for the second time in two weeks facebook had deleted my blog account. It was looking like my blog was about to disappear until I finally caught a break.
One day in November I logged on and noticed over 300 people had viewed my page. I check to see what increased so much and it was that on twitter Sonicsgate tweeted an article that I had nothing to do with. They tweeted the article of sonics to oklahoma city means lightning in Seattle. From that point on the page views started to pick up as I received 4,246 views in November. Then in December my page views increased to an all-time high of 5,148. That month I was talking about the Huskies going to a bowl game, previewing the entire week of the Apple Cup, Seahawks playoff push. Plus I was pretty vocal on Dave "Softy" Mahler's facebook page at that time. Before Sonicsgate posted on twitter that article I had received just 5,758 views in the eight months after that I had received 33,294 page views. I needed to catch a break and that was the break I needed.
After an increase in page views in November and December my blog dropped off a bit in January and February. Once again I picked up a break when Jeff Aaron asked me to be on his radio show. You can listen to my interviews with my Jeff Aaron posts right here. I must admit those were a ton of fun I was so nervous my first interview but by my third one I felt really comfortable. It was a chance to voice my opinion on various topics and I'll never forget the fun I had from that. Then in March Dave "Softy" Mahler created a witch hunt for me which caused a ton of negativity towards me. He also made my blog pretty popular as I had over 300 page views that day. His act of immaturity whether he realized it or not helped my blog grow even more. In the past four months I've had over 19,000 page views so Mahler definitely helped my blog out. Then in April my blog received some views due to Patton Richard's NFL Draft talk which he would include his predictions and had a live NFL draft chat. I felt like Richard helped legitimized my blog. I think people viewed my blog after Mahler blew up on me as a side show then quickly realized I had some good information in there.
In the past couple of months my blog has really picked up. In the last two months I've had over 11,000 page views due to my Seattle Mariners related posts. I also think the group I created has helped with the popularity of the blog. The group I created is called Seattle Sportsblog which is always busy with traffic. My fan page has over 300 members, the group has over 250 and I've even had over 110 followers on twitter. My group page gives me a feel on some subjects so I write a blog post on it. My favorite debate was when Bryan White and Zach Cecil would go back and forth on Ichiro. Of course Tory Johnson who actually played with Ichiro in Japan would weigh in as well. During the NBA playoffs Chris Rozwood became a regular contributer to the group and whether I agreed with his opinion or not his posts were very well thought out. For baseball season Mike Morris was a regular poster as well and I remember him getting on a fan for calling Felix Hernandez "King Dipshit" that was a mememorable rant. Now our newest poster Ian Korzeniecki has given the group page a new refreshing change of fan point of view. I feel like the group has really helped my blog page and that's the funnest part of my day is get on the group as it's always busy.
In conclusion, my blog wouldn't be where it is without you guys. I want to thank Michael Morrison, Michael Hourigan, Patton Richard, Brian Alfi, Insider Steve and Korey Payne for writing for my blog in the past. I can't believe it has already been a year for my blog and over 40,000 page views. I started off slow if I keep up my pace I expect to be close to over 100,000 page views. Obviously I couldn't have my blog if people didn't enjoy it. This has been a fun hobby for me and has given me a chance to meet several former players I wouldn't have otherwise had an opportunity to meet. So once again guys thanks for a great year and I hope to be doing this for many years to come. Now I'll go celebrate with some friends in Las Vegas this weekend. Hopefully I come back rich but either way I'll still be posting on the blog. I can't believe it has already been a year a year that I'll never forget.

Facebook has deleted me its official

By: Kshell
Before I show you the email exchange between me and the dipshits known as Facebook Team I'll explain my picture. This situation sucks worse than a Turd Sandwich. This is just terrible. Its a shame Myspace fell apart because when Facebook had competition they couldn't act like a giant douche. So when I put it like that I'd still vote for the Turd Sandwich. I've very disgusted by this move and this will pretty much kill my blog. My blog had momentum on facebook but as a fan page it just won't be the same. I still hope you guys follow this blog as I'll continue to provide good thoughts. Spread the word and "Like" my blog on facebook and follow me on twitter please. Hopefully Twitter becomes popular amongst non celebs so I don't have to deal with this facebook non sense anymore.
Here was the Email Exchange:

Seattle Sportsblog:
"Its hard to enjoy this site when this is the 2nd time I've been deleted. I didn't use any curse words on my page. I'm not abusive to anyone. I have 1,200 friends but so do most people. Today I added some friends because they were all suggested to me from other people. I get in auto pilot where the friend suggestions from another friend and friend request are on the same thing. I just click accept on all of them.
I'm a real person who has a real blog that you can check out. Please don't disable this one like you did again. I'm honestly begging you guys to give me my page back. This is a way to express my blog its how I"ve met so many great people to do interviews with and please this is the 2nd time you've done this to me."

"Hi,
Fake accounts are a violation of our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. Facebook requires users to provide their real first and last names. Impersonating anyone or anything is prohibited, as is maintaining multiple profiles on the site. Unfortunately, we will not be able to reactivate this account for any reason. This decision is final.
Thanks for your understanding,
The Facebook Team"
I love the thanks for your understanding. Not only are they ruining my blog but they are also thanking me. Next time kick someone in the balls then say thanks for understanding. See how they respond?
Here was my response to that shitty email.
Seattle Sportsblog
"First of all you guys are a joke. Who was I impersonating? Nobody. My name is Seattle Sportsblog. All famous people have that yet you guys have a stick so far up your own ass its not even funny.
You guys delete me despite the fact I was causing zero harm to anyone and provided a service for people to discuss sports. Nevermind the fact that people were adding people like crazy off my friends page still get to keep their page is a friggin joke!
So enjoy your piss poor paying jobs as I don't give a shit anymore. Thanks for ruining my up and coming blog. But I'm sure you'll brag how you make facebook so "enjoyable" just don't forget to tell everyone how you delete so many people for no damn reason!
Yours truly,
Seattle Sportsblog

Was I a bit harsh? Yes I was but screw it! I'm tired of them pushing me around and I'm going to voice my opinions on the matter. This is crap and they know it! Its just a matter of time before Twitter or some other thing takes over. "The Social Network" is my new Starbucks I'll avoid it like I would avoid a hooker if I had no condoms. I won't even waste my time on that stupid movie when its out on netflicks.
Keep reading my blog guys and I'll have some posts up after this weekend. I'm going to Boise this weekend to experience college gameday!

Facebook screws me yet again

By Kshell
For the second time in many of months my facebook profile was deleted. This time my profile was deleted like several others because for whatever reason Facebook doesn't believe in the right to express yourself.
Despite not swearing or bashing on people I'm deleted along with another big time sports blog in Seattle Sports Net. I had over 1,200 friends on facebook and now must start all over again.
I have created a "fan" page on facebook for you guys to still follow me and get updates. Just go under "local business" and type in Seattle Sportsblog and you should be able to find it.
Here is a link to it http://www.facebook.com/pages/Seattle-Sportsblog/148771848491281#!/pages/Seattle-Sportsblog/148771848491281
Anyways if you want to add my personal facebook you can as well my name is Kris Shellenbarger and I hope you continue to read my blog.

Facebook is a damn joke!

By KShell
Facebook is a damn joke! They took down my blog and won't even discuss it so I will start another blog site on facebook. Please stay loyal to my blog I will appreciate it greatly.
Here is the joke of an email I received from this assholes
"Hi Seattle,
Your account was disabled because your behavior on the site was identified as harassing or threatening to other people on Facebook. Prohibited behavior includes, but is not limited to:
• Sending friend requests to people you don't know
• Regularly contacting strangers through unsolicited Inbox messages
• Soliciting others for dating or business purposes
After reviewing your situation, we have determined that your behavior violated Facebook's Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. You will no longer be able to use Facebook. This decision is final and cannot be appealed.
Please note that for technical and security reasons, we will not provide you with any further details about this decision.
Thanks,
Liam

Facebook"
Here was my response which was heated.
"Abusive huh? I have never once harassed anyone on this site. In fact I have received some emails from people asking me what happened to my site.
I will start up another facebook page then and will continue to do so. This is my lively hood. This was an avenue to express my blog. I don't get how I was reported as "abusive" for having 900 friends when several people have thousands and thousands of friends. I don't get how I was harassing people when I was friend requesting people that YOU suggested that I friend.
Its a great shame that you guys got to be so big you no longer care about people anymore. Facebook used to be a fun site and an avenue for me to discuss sports with my fellow friends. Its a shame that you are so narrow minded on your decision.
I didn't receive a single warning on this topic. I have NOT sent out a single Email, every email that I messaged someone was in RESPONSE to their original post!
This is a horrible decision by your part. I will continue to keep creating pages so you might as well resume my page. I thought I could maybe get a warning since this is the first time I've heard of this. Also I'll report every major person who has numerous friends so you can delete them as well. See how flawed that is?
Your decision is a joke and crushed my site. Thanks for putting me out of business. "
Facebook you suck!

Facebook Page Disabled

By Kshell
I woke up this morning to do some work on my blog and come to find out that my blog has been disabled.I hope that out of all you guys who have been on my facebook page continue to check out this blog. I honestly have no idea when my facebook page will return. I have messaged Mark Zuckerberg and team facebook already. They sent me a message varifying that I'm a real person and if this was really me email I then responded to that. I don't know when I'll get my page back.
Here was the email exchange.
"Hi,
In order to receive support, you must reply to this email to verify that you are the owner of the Facebook account that you referenced in your inquiry. This security step must be completed before Facebook can respond to your inquiry.
In addition, note that Facebook will only be able to provide assistance if you are writing in from the email address that you used to log in to your Facebook profile that's disabled. If your disabled profile was registered under a different email address, then you will need to respond directly from that email address. To do this, take the following steps:
• Copy the exact email address you see in the "From" field of this email (ending in @support.facebook.com).
• Log in to the email account under which your disabled Facebook profile was registered.
• Compose a new email. Paste the address you copied (ending in @support.facebook.com) into the "To" field, let us know you're responding from your disabled email address in the body, and click "Send."
Once we have this information, we will take further steps to assist you. Remember that writing in multiple times will not result in a faster response. Once you submit your initial request, it is placed in a queue and responded to accordingly.
Lastly, you may not create another account using a different email address while you are waiting for a response. Creating more than one Facebook account is a violation of our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, and violations of this rule could result in all of your accounts being permanently disabled.
Thanks,
The Facebook Team"
Here was my response....
"Hi this is indeed Seattle Sportsblog. I tried clicking on your link and nothing came up. I was wondering why my profile was disabled. I have over 900 friends but I see others have over thousands of friends. I haven't used any "F" words or nudity on my profile. Without warning my profile was disabled and I'm very dissapointed and it has ruined my day so far.
My email is seattlesportsblog@yahoo.com
My name on Facebook is Seattle Sportsblog
and my blog is seattlesports.tk"
I'll keep you guys posted until I get word. If they don't re-activate my page I will create a new page and I hope you guys still continue to follow this blog. I still have not been told why my facebook page was disabled and am extremely pissed off with Facebook doing that. If anyone reported my page then you are a chicken sh*t person. This blog was a forum for people to discuss sports and some topics got heated a bit but we were very classy sports blog. We offered some strong opinions but we also backed them up with some facts.
Spread the word that facebook disabled my blog to everyone. For now I'll still continue to post on here. Hopefully we get our account back.
Thanks guys for building our page up the way we did and I"m confident we can do it again!
